Casa Maury-Parés, located on carrer Mallorca, 234, in Barcelona, stands in a privileged location in the city, next to the stately Rambla de Catalunya and very close to Passeig de Gràcia. Within the context of a new construction development, all the elements that make this building a unique work have been renewed.

Two façades full of history

The Casa Maury-Parés reform project, by architect Joan Pascual Argenté, has been carried out with the utmost respect for the surroundings. It includes the recovery of the façade overlooking carrer Mallorca, typical of the Eixample, with balconies and balustrades. The original rear façade, fully glazed and facing the interior of the block, has also been restored and adapted to the most up-to-date technical criteria. The project includes the addition of two floors, so that on one of its sides and on its upper part, both façades will be complemented by a new one, fully glazed.

New construction and total respect for tradition

All architectural elements in the Casa Maury-Parés, such as balustrades, cast-iron railings and pillars, and stained glass, have been preserved. The stately hall and the interior patio have also been restored and maintained. This intervention is carried out within the framework of a new construction development, and has two basement floors, the ground floor with commercial premises, and six upper floors that house 24 apartments with the highest technical and energy-efficiency requirements. In addition to its sustainability, the building preserves the architectural style of Barcelona’s Eixample district.

Casa Maury-Parés, 140 years of history

In 1882, José Artigas Planes designed this building, which was commissioned by Dolores Maury Parés (widow of Pedro Monés i Valls) as a family asset. As a curiosity, the building license bears the signature of Francesc Rius i Taulet, who was the mayor of Barcelona between 1858 and 1898. Eventually, various actions were carried out to enlarge its surface and improve its general appearance.
